peter lik and the Peter Lik fall semester scholarship winnerWe are proud to announce that Felicia Gassen is the winner of the Peter Lik fall semester scholarship. This semi-annual Photo contest is open to University of Nevada Las Vegas (UNLV) undergraduate and graduate students pursuing art degrees with an emphasis on photography.

Two students are awarded the $2,500 scholarship each year, one for spring semester and one for fall. Photos are submitted from dozens of students and judged by a board for: composition, level of difficulty, and overall aesthetic.

Felicia is a senior and plans to pursue an MFA degree upon competition of her studies. Pete was very impressed with her work and was excited to meet Ms. Gassen.

As a Las Vegas resident, and a leader in the field of photography, Peter is always excited to encourage up-and-coming local artists. Just as many of young artists are inspired by his work, Pete finds motivation in the work of passionate young artists and hopes to encourage students to follow their dreams.

Congratulations Felicia!

Peter Lik Landscape Photography on Mt. Baker

In late September Peter traveled to Mount Baker in Northern Washington, just south of the Canadian border. Pete and his crew arrived at Mount Baker just before the entire region was hit with the first snow fall of the winter. This provided the perfect opportunity for Peter capture some incredible images of this serene and secluded area.

His goal with the shoot was to capture the sunrise but due to weather conditions it was unfortunately difficult to see. Peter spent about 4 hours waiting in the snow for the perfect shot. Though the sunrise was a disappointment the landscape was quite impressive, when the mist cleared, providing the perfect opportunity to for Peter to capture some incredible landscape photography.
